My husband and I are bee keepers and enjoy making products from which our hives produce.
Bees are amazing little insects. They make delicious, nutrient rich honey, bees wax, royal jelly, propolis, and much more. Honey is full of vitamins A,C,D,E,K, calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium. It has antibacterial and medicinal properties great for our human bodies. It prevents the spread of organisms, great for wound care and minor burns. Bees wax and honey are in numerous products for health and beauty, and are natural and chemical free!
My husband and I became interested in trying to do as many things for ourselves as possible. One of the things we have tried to do is to get back to basics and find products that don't hurt us or the environment. We have a few bee hives for now and will keep growing and building new hives.
Together we started to experiment in the kitchen and we came up with Bee Butter. We used products from our bee hive, and a simple olive oil to create a product we love.
When we first started Bee Butter, it was just something else we made because we loved it, and it worked. A few months later we went on a trip with some friends who was complaining of itchy skin from eczema. We handed her some Bee Butter to try and she was instantly hooked. Every time we turned around she was asking for more, and of course we were happy to share. We gave her all we had left at the end of our trip and went home to make another batch. As we were making it our mail lady stopped and said something smelled good. We told her what it was and gave her some. The next day a different mail lady stopped and knocked on our door. She had tried a sample of Bee Butter and had to have some for herself. We were just excited to share something we had made and that it was being appreciated and loved by others. A few months later Christmas came around and we knew exactly what to give as gifts.
Shortly after our family had received their batches of Bee Butter, we had orders from them and more for their friends. People who try Bee Butter seem to love it and we knew we had to share.
We made some labels and bought some tins and started packaging out of our kitchen. I went around to local stores and started to ask people to try it and to see if it was something they would be interested in selling. We are now in several stores locally and keep getting orders to restock them.
The Bee Butter business was born. The best part is, it's something we created together, and we get to share it with others. It is
made in small batches.
Many stores in my town are now selling and loving this product. Available in 2 oz, 4 oz, and lip balm. Enjoy!
